ASL 1010 - ASL 2020:
​Introduction to American Sign Language with an emphasis on building vocabulary skills, conversational and discourse skills, narrative composition skills, production skills, and knowledge of historical and cultural aspects of Deaf culture.
ASL 3100: ASL Classifiers
This course analyses the production and application of classifiers as descriptors and narrative enrichment. We learned and practiced each category of classifiers, focusing on applying the proper handshapes and movements specific to the situation, actions, and visuals being described. Coursework included the construction and live production of classifier-rich narratives. Completed with a proficiency in production and understanding of classifiers.
ASL 3000: Fingerspelling & Numbers - ASL
​Advanced analysis of the manual alphabet and numerical system of American Sign Language, with proficiency training in expressive and receptive skills through daily quizzes and exams.
Culture and Lit
ASL 4100: Advanced Deaf History
Explores the history and perceptions of the Deaf community and their education. The discussion covers nineteenth-century debates over communication methods, cultural factors, and the rise of key themes in Deaf history.
ASL 4010: Linguistics of ASL
Designed to develop an advanced understanding and knowledge of American Sign Language through a comprehensive analysis of the historical development, linguistic structure, syntax, grammar, and pragmatics of ASL.
ASL 4020: Discourse in ASL
Continuation of ASL 4010. Advanced analysis of linguistic concepts, including time concepts, regional and ethnic variations, pluralization, classifiers, locatives, temporal aspects, and pronoun use in ASL.
Other Major Required Courses
ASL 4050: Advanced Deaf Culture
Comprehensive study of Deaf culture in the United States. Topics covered include folklore, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and education. Discussion involves analyzing the social, political, and economic elements of the Deaf community, as well as the ideas of “Deafhood” and “Deaf-gain,” highlighting connections to historical events related to these concepts.
ASL 4500: Deaf People in Lit & Film
Analysis of Deaf cultural traditions, highlighting the Deaf experience in novels, short stories, drama, poetry, folklore, humor and other literary works.
LANG 3000: Introduction to Linguistics and Foreign Language Learning
Introduction to the linguistics of English and foreign languages. Topics include phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and foreign language acquisition.

GEOG 1010/Lang 3030: Geography of America and Korea
This course took place abroad at Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea. Topics covered the various geographical regions and characteristics of America and Korea, with an analysis of their specific differences.
MKT 3010: Principles of Marketing
Analysis of planning, pricing, promoting, and distributing goods and services within business marketing strategies.
MGT 2010: Principles of Management
Evaluation of the function of management, principles of organization, and behavior within an organization.
ECON 2110 and ECON 2120: Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
